About The Course Presenters
Dick Murphy worked in the region for Exxon from 1958-1983 and subsequently worked as a petroleum exploration consultant for both major oil companies and national oil companies around the world. Dick founded the PGSEA course in 1985 and is now retired and lives in the UK. Dick has lived the recent exploration history of the region and brings a wealth of historical perspective and insight to the course.
Ian Longley is a working professional geologist with 22 years of experience within the region. Ian has worked for Lasmo, Woodside and Shell in various locations around the world but his work has principally focused on the petroleum geology of Australasia. He currently lives in Sydney and works for Oil Search and presents this course with their full permission. Ian does the powerpoint and adds a modern oil company viewpoint to the public domain data.
